CD - Presentation

Finally our CD is ready! To celebrate the occasion we're going to produce a video to one track of the CD:
Three performers standing on a stage are filmed and projected onto three dolls. The three dolls are photographed and the resulting image is captured by a computer. After this cycle the performers move a little further, the dolls are adjusted in order to contain the new projected image. Again a photo is taken and captured to the computer.
Six hours later we let the computer render a stopmotion-video out of the resulted 2000 images. The Video is presented immediatly after. The Premiere party takes place at the Philiale.
View a video of an earlier rehearsal:
Performers Sonja Schmidlehner and Verena Brückner projected onto a superhero and styrofoam.

From live to canned music
So far our music was the result of a perpetual loop of improvising, recording, listening, rehearsing and - again - improvising. We believe that music is something happening as interaction between sending and reception in space. Music can be heard only once. Hearing music repeatedly builds new music. Were does music go if we don't store it?
To record our livesets and publish somehow frozen improvisations didn't feel right. Our goal was to synthesize Superlooper-like music while producing and hearing it.
Each of us collected and reassambled sounds, wether from earlier recordings, new recordings of each other or "foreign" sounds and constructed his view of Superlooper.
So we came up with 13 Tracks, 3 Superlooper-self-conceptions and 2 CDs.
So we came up with 13 Tracks, 3 Superlooper-self-conceptions and 2 CDs.
„Construct me“ is a double album of two absolutely identical CDs. We ask listeners to play them in random order or looped simultaneously on their HiFi, kitchenradios, laptops and PCs and so complete the composition of the music. We don't shift responsibility on to the audience, we do shift the production of the music where it belongs: to hearing.

"Nine p.m."
„That manner was mistaken for intelligence. Reckless and unforgiving.“
Nine p.m. is our first program mainly based on text. We orchestrate Florian Kmets streched lyrics. The infinitely slow spoken sentences make room for constructs of ideas. Within one hour we smoothly render our sound from dark noise to a clumsy beat drowning the voice.

Superlooper
Superlooper was founded by Ludwig Bekic, Alexander J. Eberhard and Florian Kmet in 2003. In their concerts and performances they deal with subjects about reality and cognition. They worked with the performer Sonja Schmidlehner and the company toxic dreams and played works of Anestis Logothetis and Gerhard Stäbler. After five years of touring they present their first CD "Construct me".
Ludwig Bekic: tape echo (copicat), readymade beats, bontempi
Alexander J. Eberhard: e-viola
Florian Kmet: guitar, voice
